Usability Improvement Suggestions For Sureseats.com Webmaster

SureSeatsHave you ever tried purchasing a movie ticket on a rush or on the weekends when everyone is in the line because it’s payday and the movie that you are watching is a blockbuster hit with high reviews on rotten tomatoes? Chances are yes. That is what online ticket purchasing are made for. They make movie goers’ ticket purchasing a soft breeze.

I’m a user of Sureseats.com because it is convenient and it makes my movie ticket purchase process easy but they’re missing some features of an e-commerce website which I think will greatly improve the website’s usability. Listed below is what I would suggest to their Web Department and hopefully it will make movie goers’ life easier.

  1. Add paypal payment option - Almost all online transactions, local or abroad have a pay via Paypal option since it’s widely used and easy to integrate. Adding this feature will open up to a whole new set of users.
  2. Accept credit cards online instantly – Most people will not maintain prepaid cards for movies priced at PHP 150 so instantly accepting credit cards is a must. Plus sureseats needs to accept the reality that faxing a credit card bill is no longer accepted as a guarantee. Users want instant confirmation and not 24 hrs afterward (that’s so primitive). Although it only requires first time users to fax credit card billing statement, still it is a big hassle and users are most likely to end up frustrated and grouchy worse a lost customer. This is a problem for all Ayala Malls’ website as shown below:

    SureSeats M-Pass Load
by MPASSPhp 1,000.00 M-Pass load with Php 40.00 processing fee.

For first time users: Please fax or email a copy of your most recent credit card billing statement after placing your order online (required per credit card used).
    Fax# 752-5279
    Email: customerservice@myayala.com

Upon approval of transaction, your M-Pass load code will be emailed to you.

Please give us 24 hrs. to process your purchase. myAyala.com operating hours are: Mondays to Fridays, 8am – 6pm.

IMPORTANT! Please provide your complete and proper Email Address and Contact Number at the Checkout Page so we can be able to email your code and contact you for verification.

  3. Remove computer fee for online transactions – I just find this to be an unnecessary cost to the user. I see no reason for businesses to require additional fees when processing things gets easier and it is very common in the Philippines, it makes me think that we Filipinos are doomed to be left behind as technology advances to a pace we have never envisioned. It’s just not logical. Companies are supposed to use technology as a tool to aid them in serving their customers in a better way and with added value.
  4. Use QR codes for reservation confirmation number - Yes, QR codes are quick response codes that a user can scan to avoid the hassle of copying or printing a confirmation ticket number. Add QR codes and you will help save the environment as well. If people can afford to have a credit card they probably own a smartphone that can scan barcodes and most likely QR codes.

The Sureseats.com web team could already be developing these solutions or they may have already proposed them to the executive management or whoever approves such developments. If they can at least implement items #2 and #4, I bet they will increase the number of online ticket purchase and food purchases.

I see a lot of people carrying printed tickets and some showing purchased tickets on their Iphones.  We live in a technology driven community now, if we really want to improve and better serve our customers lets maximize its potential.
