After the Holiday season, the next big occasion that needs preparation is Valentines day and the coming summer vacation for 2009. In this post I’ll focus on my summer getaway plans.
This coming May we’re planning to travel to Boracay Island, Philippines. We’ve agreed that our expenses should not exceed PHP 30,000 for this trip thus planning early on will be beneficial if we want to stick to our planned budget.
Boracay Island Curiosity
I’ve never experienced Boracay so I still don’t know what to expect but I’m keeping my hopes up that what’s left of it is still as good as the story people tell. They say Boracay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines or maybe the world. It has pure white sandy beach that stretches for kilometers. Night life is also great so I hope that by the time I travel to Boracay I’ll be allowed by my doctor to moderately drink alcoholic beverages.
Search for a Low Priced Flight
I’ve had experience on not planning for my trip thus resulting to an expensive round trip flights. This airline company offers as low as PHP 1.00 + taxes if you book early and if seats are available as the numbers will be limited.
Today I found a flight that will only cost me PHP 8k round trip from Manila to Caticlan which I think is a good buy. If you check out the regular price on other airlines that would cost you a little over PHP 20,000
Search for Low Rate Resort Accommodations
Instead of looking for a travel agent to plan for my vacation, I opted to search the internet to look for some good quality beach front resorts in Boracay using this online hotel directory and I found a good list of candidate hotels to stay for the weekend.
I found these resorts to fit my taste, need and budget:
Synchronizing my Flights and Days of Stay
All that’s left now is to synchronize both of my flights and days of stay at the beach front resort I found. Knowing what time the ferry leaves at the Caticlan port would also help me in this task but I guess a ferry boat leaves every hour and all the resort have an airport transfer service.
We are planning to leave for Boracay on the 3rd week of May 2009 and I’m really excited as this will be my first time to step in the white sandy beaches of the popular Boracay Island.
