Globelines Broadband SMTP and Static IP

I had my Globe Broadband connection today. We are located somewhere in San Pedro, Laguna. I’ve been a Globe Broadband user for the past year at Pasig and I had no problems regarding my email server. Now that I have the same package here I suddenly Cannot send email using Outlook Express with my domains. I called the usual tech support to seek “Technical Support”. I spoke to an agent and I explained what just happened only to find out that if I want to use my own email server, incoming and outgoing I have to avail of the Static IP which cost around PHP 770/month. I also told the agent that I am already a user of Globelines + broadband and I had no problem with my email settings with them before. The setting is always the usual pop3: mail.domain.com SMTP: mail.domain.com which is used by most of my providers smart, zpdee and others. The stupid agent was telling me to avail of the static IP because the admin annouced that due to heavy spam that they are recieving and in order to serve the globe subcribers better, They have to pass the burden to the user by availing of the Static IP.

My take here is that the Globelines Broadband Engineers are incompetent and they are looking for an easy way out so they block all the domains on their SMTP server which is bullshit. Spam is the networks problem not the users. I’m challenging the Globelines Broadband Engineers to reverse the situation.

Why other ISP’s have no problems with spam.. and I think spam is the domain users problem. Right now, you SUCK BIG TIME!

Are there any other Globe Broadband users thats having the same problem or its just me and that the Tech Support are just stupid because I ahve never heard of this before.

Same problem here… Started October 23, 2008… and now they are asking me to pay for that static IP!!!

  2. aldo says:

Hey Glaiza, I know they are being unfair as other ISP’s will tend to provide you with the proper SMTP if they block Port 25. As one of the agents told me and I confirmed this with my Web Hosting provider. if you use port 587 http://aldo.splitsys.com/blog/internet-connection/globe-broadband-blocked-port-25/ you will be able to send emails again. Try it! its been running for the past week.

Globe is being unfair for not letting their clients use third party email clients. Wake up globe engineers! do not be stupid and do not look for the easy way out.

I also would like to re iterate that Globelines broadband needs to retrain most of theier agents as they are not familiar with port 587 and they keep insisting that clients is only allowed to use the email address they gave us.

  3. johann says:

this is really bull! been having email problems as well. sheesh. another 700 bucks just to be able to send email thats NOT from their webmail.

  4. aldo says:

Yeah this bad for Globes reputation. You can try the port that I posted. It still works. I guess it’s a standard for web hosting comapnies to support the port as well.

    it’s port 587.

  5. radhika dasi says:

Yes I encountered the same problem with my SMTP outgoing email server. They also advised me to avail the static IP which will cost P700+. I complained and told them it’s not fair. I am now planning to cut my globe broadband and apply for PLDT again, I was a PLDT subscriber before, and unluckily I transferred to Globe broadband because I was convinced of their promo. If you encounter the same problem of your SMTP outgoing email server the ultimate solution is to transfer to PLDT dsl or dial-up internet will work. Globe Company doesn’t give a damn concern and solution of this problem because GLOBE doesn’t care of their subscribers. They prefer their subscribers to transfer to other DSL/Broadband provider. SHAME ON YOU!

  6. aldo says:

@radhika dasi have you tried the port I provided? that smtp is still working on my globe broadband connection. Apparently some of their agents needs retraining as they do not what are the technical stuff needed to do. I also think that globe’s CSR to field engineer is acting as a barrier to assist Globe’s current roster of subscribers.

Imagine this, you can talk to the CSR that doesnt know anything about internet connection and they can forward whatever query you have but you cannot forward you to the “Higher Technical Team” because everything is system generated which I think is a system that really really sucks.

If you noticed, everytime you call 171 for support, it seems that Globe broadband in Makati has been having connection probelems for the past month. Imagine that… it takes them more than a month just fix things and I’m currently still having intermittent connection problems with them and when the connection gets better I’ll get a selective browsing problem. The field support that was suppose to go to my house for the past 3 weeks now havent shown his face yet eventhough they already committed that they will come by the house on a specific date.

Right now I do not have any other option back here in as I’ve already tried smart wifi and back then it was still very bad. PLDT seems to be clogged also. So… Globe right now is the lesser of all evils.

I hope some other small player with great connection and after sales support comes in very soon. Globe is not living up to it’s advertisements such as “great tech support and after sales support”.

globe is the worst. i garuntee you, smart is far better. okay so my download upload is about 200kbps faster, think of this okay?
50% of my games i cannot play. yet my friends can. globe has issues and i swear to god if i get a busy sign from their technical support again ima shuv it up theirs!!! static ips ARENT SUPPOSE TO COST SHTTTT. i have a link here, you check it out, this is what will get everything to work again.

i.. have been researching for the past 2 months, gone over every possibility to see that it ends up in my hurricane 5200 prolink modem router.
i swear, if i didnt have a year contract I wouldve smashed it already.

    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Prolink/Hurricane5200/Soldier_of_Fortune_2.htm

keep this in mind. their representatives arent even smarter than my dog. they hear the letters IP they refer immediately to a new route meaning more money, tell them to STFU!!! i cant even access my own routing numbers on the globe home page without their password? this is alot of crock.

static IPs are required when they give us sum shit modem, that cant even route or port the program we are trying to use. hence it is their fault. that their product doesnt recognize something it will be exposed to. that is why they have static IPs. then there gonna add 700 to ur bill? i garuntee you if that were me i wouldve went off and knocked out the fool who was giving me the bill.

globe is to rich of a company to boycot or to deny.

if u find any other solutions by getting around globe with static IPs please email me at vegasripper2004@yahoo.com

i will help you with every last detail i know in getting past everything globe has set up only to limit us.

  9. azure_ardee says:

@aldo Port 587 works wonderfully. Thank you :) We had the same problem here using Globe.

  10. Aldo says:

@azure No prblem, happy to help.

  11. lang says:

Aldo: port 587 doesn’t work for my mail server, although I was able to telnet smtp.gmail.com on that port. Anyone have ideas why this is so?

  12. Aldo says:

@lang did you try to tick “My outgoing server requires authentication and under it use same settings as my incoming mail server” thats both under the “outgoing server tab”

  13. irkool_budd says:

  14. niel says:

Need help. I’m having the same problem. Globe advised to change outgoing server to smtp01.globelines.com.ph and port to 587.

Still did not work. Yeah, globe sucks.

  15. Aldo says:

@niel: Let me try that and let me see if that wil work for me. But my best guess is that it also depends on your hosting provider. but that’s a very rare case.

To ALL: Thank you for stopping by. I’m overwhelmed by your reactions and comments.

  16. Aldo says:

@Niel: are you using an email address other than what globe gave you? Changing the port number from 25 to 587 still works. Try to change your SMTP server to your default server. (mail.YourDomainName.com). It should work fine.

  17. Aldo says:

@irkool_budd: try to put www in front. dont use ntc.gov.ph. This is an error of the .ph servers. I’ve notice this on all domains with the TLD ending in .com.ph and .ph.

    Let me know what happens.

  18. Jamie says:

If you are just having a problem in terms of e-mail sending/receiving, my problem is I have to host a website. To be able to host a website, a static IP is needed which really sucks if you’re a globelines broadband user. Abot mo ang mundo… sh!T please feel free to visit my blog…

  19. isolator says:

GLOBE BROADBAND IS A BIG MISTAKE! GLOBE BRAODBAND SUCKS 100%!

  20. eFriend says:

I had the same problem with Globe. Finally I used the smtp server of Gmail. I had to crate a gmail account but it worked. Another problem was I wasn’t able to access my office VPN and Globe didn’t have any solutions. Last week my internet connection was down and two days after I reported it someone came over and changed my router. Surprisingly, I am now able to connect to the VPN. I did not change any settings. Could it be the router? The old router was Aztec.

  21. michael says:

I’m also having problems in sending out emails in outlook express. I changed the port of outgoing smtp from 25 to 587 and tick on my outgoing server requires authentication. Its not working. I can receive emails but unable to send mails. I am using a 3rd party email.

  22. up to now, same problem exist

  23. Loyd says:

Iv read a lot from this blog… maybe this is the reason why i cannot port forward port 30000 UDP to my computer because they are already blocking it.

  24. burjuman says:

Globe’s IT people sucks….pati na mga IT heads nila….dahil puro bulok ang nga IT dyan gnun na mga ang ginawa nila..they blocked it…..kasama yan sa trabaho nila nyo to control the spams…..kahit saan sulok sa internet….spam is common…..lahat incompetent bilang IT dyan sa Globe…hoy nga gago….mahiya nmn kayo…..pa IT pa kayo…..
