Did Bank of the Philippine Islands – Corinthians Forgot About Our Year End Pay?

The Malacañan Palace recently declared a series of 8 day long holiday in the Philippines. As a result the last banking day will be on Dec 24, 2004 which has already been announced a few months back. With this reason there should be NO excuse under any circumstances that your office should not be able to prepare and upload the payroll for the said coming 8 day long holiday.

Who should be blamed?

All I know is that they already submitted the payroll yesterday to BPI for this cycle and BPI somehow failed to do their job. I don’t know how much time they need to ensure that a less than 200 people company get their salary.

My conclusion is that they are both to blame at this point. I will update this post when I recieve my year end pay.

BPI-Corinthians is our Bank of the Philippines Islands thast takes care of our semi-monthly payroll. It is their JOB to ensure that we recieve whatever our Finance and HR department forwards to them and they FAILED to do that task. Recent update suggest that we will recieve our salary on the coming 26th or 27th next week which both falls under the 8 day long holiday announced by Malacañan.

Who to blame? who to blame? It’s up to you.

I think said company knows the cutoff of said bank. While it’s true that said bank could have done more in processing the payroll of said company, it is up to said company to have foreseen the urgency and holiday rush, and submitted the payroll days earlier. After all, this is no ordinary period, this is an unprecedented 8-day holiday. I know people whose companies employ branches of said bank, and they got their pay earlier. Could it be that the branches of said bank actually did their job right? OR could it be that their companies had foresight, anticipated such issues, and did their employees a huge favor and processed the payroll much, much earlier? As much as I hate to admit it, I lean toward the latter.

    Just my two cents.

some of our officemates went to BPI Corinthians earlier to discuss (and to complain as well) regarding this matter. as it turns out, the cheque issued by the company (our employer for that matter) is dated december 31 (in short, post dated). with that, the bank can’t do something but to wait for december 31 to give us our salary. as i understood it correctly (correct me if im wrong) but the finance dept. already called up the bank to fix this issue. unfortunately, the best and only thing that bpi corinthians can do is to give us our salaries a little earlier than the date posted on the cheque.

its not the bank’s fault. you know who already. i just don’t know why THEY passed the blame on the bank. i dunno… maybe they’re afraid to have an NC (again) because of the huge mistake they made.

now we’re getting somewhere. Now we know who should be answerable. The check was dated at the end of the… Yeah this is an unusual long holiday and I just heard that the 8 long holiday just became 9 long holiday week including the 2nd of January.

I just hope that we really get our pay because I have a flight to catch on the 29th otherwise i’ll be on an island with NO cash baon. hahaha I hope they accept cheques hehehe.

  4. aldo says:

haha, The infamous NC. tsk tsk who the heck dated the check on the 31st? The bank made the announcements weeks if not a month early about the deadlines. We are not the only client of that branch so I think somebody should have made a bit of an effort to get it done just a little ealier. :)

Buti nalang I still have some moola left but its not gonna last. hahaha I also missed one cc due date. shiiit

  5. Melita says:

WHAAAAAAT? Seryoso?!?!?! Argh. I cannot believe that they would have the audacity to make up stories to clean their hands of this mistake!

  6. gUrLaLiEn says:

i think its pretty stupid to let us know na mei sahod na tayo ng 24 pero yung cheke eh post dated cheque na dated december 31. i mean, what the heck?! diba finance sila? they should know these circumstances! para saan pa ang date kung di rin naman nila susundin? the bank has their point! bakit nga naman nila i-pprocess ang cheke na naka date ng katapusan? pffft…

i paid the minimum amount of my cc kanina. para lang di ako ma charge ng late fee…

  7. djong says:

so in essence, if our salaries come in on the 27th, the bank’s actually doing us a favor.

Anyway… Merry Christmas to all GodBless!

    hmm i-CAPA na yan.

  10. Jeff Poblete says:

  11. aldo says:

So now that we have some of the facts.

Just checked my account online and meron na pumasok. Hinde ko alam kung kelan. I bet somebody panicked.

  12. Melita says:

Tama! Dapat mag-demand tayo ng apology from them! Linoloko nila tayo — I mean, what they did is even worse than a technical NC. Dapat malaman that there are employees who know the real story!

  13. Melita says:

Oh, at siyempre, happy christmas and an even happier new year! Wehehehe!

  14. aldo says:

    Yep! Merry Christmas everyone!

  15. gUrLaLiEn says:

received my delayed salary as well. kaya lang parang ang liit. lol..

oh and one more thing… isang buwan na akong walang payslip!!! lam mo naman ang mga zimplizity pipol… napaka special… ang sabi nila sa akin… “nakalimutan daw nila i-prepare yung payslip ng zimplizity” what the heck?!

  16. Melita says:

Marami talaga silang lapses. Some of my teammates also reported inconsistent tax deductions. Sabihin natin na sige, the deduction was valid, nevertheless, the people in charge should at least have the courtesy to explain kung para san yung additional deduction na iyon. But they always keep surprising us when we receive the payslip.

At hello??? Ang payslip AFTER the payout? “World-class” and “global” companies release payslips BEFORE payout para may basehan ka kung magkano ang makukuha for the month.

Ibang klase talaga. Tsk, tsk.

  17. Aldo says:

@Melita panong inconsistent tax deductions? Ang alam ko yun tax mo should not be changing lalo na kung madalas yan, kase hinde naman madalas ang pagpalit ng status mo at sweldo mo… hehehe kung may absent sila most probably mababago talaga yun Tax nila kase maiiba yun yearly gross income nila (yan ang alam ko). Pero kung walang absent, hinde naman siguro sila madalas manganak, hinde din naman cguro sila paibaiba ng status like head of the family tapos biglang hinde nanaman. hehehe

  18. Melita says:

At ang nagrereflect sa payslip nila is not “tardiness” kundi lahat nasa tax deductions. Sa kanila hindi, it was categorized as “withholding tax.” So san nanggaling yung additional tax na iyon? They had to file an NC for that, and rightly so!

  19. Ria says:

They did it again. More deductions. And where’s our payslip? WALA. ASA PA.

  20. I have been searching for this information and finally found it. Thanks!
