HTC One X Set To Launch in The Philippines

I’m an HTC user and this new phone will definitely be part of my to-buy list.

A view of the HTC One XHTC will launch its latest set of phones on the 1st week of April 2012. Knowing the coming of holy week, I think the launch will be moved on the second week of April instead, unless they plan to have a product launch on the beach which is not a bad idea as there are a lot of people who would go to the beach and parties will surely be held. HTC will launch the HTC One X and the HTC One V models only as the HTC One XL is using LTE and as you know our local carriers don’t support LTE just yet.

And for me, it is okay, because One X will be using a Quad-core CPU and the One XL will still be using a dual-core CPU.

Here are the specs of HTC One X from HTC:

Size: 134.36 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm
Weight: 130 grams with battery
Display: HD 720p touch
Screen: 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 resolution)

CPU: 1.5 Quad-core
Platform: Android™ 4.0 with HTC Sense™ 4
Storage: 32GB (26GB available to user)
RAM: 1GB
Sound Enhancement: Beats Audio™

Meanwhile, here’s a video from the manufacturer:

I’m really excited about this smartphone and I hope that my carrier will offer it.

To LTFRB: Investigate What Happened to EDSA Last Night

Disclaimer: This blog post is based solely on my own point of view or opinion.

Last night I experienced what I call a ‘pre-meditated disruption of transportation’ in EDSA. Why? When I looked at the number of people in Ayala, there was an unusual number of people on the streets and the buses are nowhere to be seen, if any, just a few which are overloaded – in its most exaggerated sense – with people standing in the middle of the aisle. Most of them if not all are either stuck in traffic somewhere or were rented to be on a special trip to Quirino Grand Stand for the Prayer Rally of Iglesia ni Cristo.

LTFRB Should Investigate

I think the LTFRB should investigate on who should be answerable based on what happened last night. Literally, thousands of commuters (read: students & employees) were stranded for more than 3 hours who have to go to work early the following morning. And that’s in EDSA-Ayala alone. What about the other parts of Manila? I was constantly communicating with friends online and found out that one of them has a kid stranded at an LRT station because there were no buses; as a result, most of the commuters resorted to opt for other means of transportation.

Responsibities of Bus Companies & Tour Buses

The bus companies shouldn’t have let most of their buses rented out by one group as they have a responsibility to the public – To provide transportation to the masses. Special trips are the responsibility of tour bus companies.

What Should Be Done Next Time

Given the predictable politics and poor planning in the country. This will surely happen again.

I understand that money matters and that bus companies are only trying to run a business. They saw an opportunity to earn big but they obviously haven’t thought of the consequences (I think). So, If a bus company is to rent out to someone, I think they should make sure that it’s not the whole fleet. They should only be allowed to rent out a maximum of 30% of their total fleet, that is if the LTFRB has a list of that number per company.

A law or policy should be written and implemented that has a substantial amount of penalty if found violated. That is if there’s no existing policy or law.

What about you? Were you affected by last night’s chaos?

Google+ Project: A Close Facebook Rival (Videos + Opinion)

The Google Plus ProjectIn the latest attempt of Google to enter the social space they recently launched Google+ project. I watched the videos and yeah its really social but Im finding most of its features from Google Wave (R.I.P.). I’m sure that any of  you familiar with the Wave product will find it similar but there are 3 main features that I find awesome.

A Quick glance at Google+ Project video:

A Quick glance at Google+ Project main features on video:

  1. Circles - The easiest way to share some things with college buddies, others with your parents, and almost nothing with your boss.
  2. Hangouts - Let friends know you’re free for a video hangout, any time, anywhere. Then catch up, watch YouTube, or… just hangout.
  3. Sparks - A feed of just the stuff you’re really into, so when you’re free, there’s always something waiting to be watched, read, or shared.

My Opinion:

Havent really tried this one yet because its on limited field trial but I think this is by far the biggest and closest attempt of Google to rival Facebook the Social Media giant.

I can only imagine what impact this would have on online marketing specially its from Google and its social. So what do we have here? Google the biggest search engine that has Google +1 that has Google Places that has Google Friend Connect and all the other social media components which almost everything is embedded on this Google+ project. This will be their most beneficial invite to the internet community to sign up for a Google profile and get the social search leap one step closer to reality.

Google could be moving away from their core business which is search but they want high quality results on their SERP’s to keep people coming back and search on google.com but many are skeptical that Google is trying to be what its not – A social media network, Again I think this only serves as a reminder that search engine optimization (SEO) will evolve to inbound marketing and social media is part of this.

As I’ve always and many of us said, keep on producing high quality content that will get lots of mentions and natural inbound links and Google will find your website relevant. It’s not about gaming the algorithm, Googles algo will remain secret and gaming it will never be a viable strategy.

What do you guys think? I love to hear from you.
